    Labor of a Read islike it this book is enormous it has a lumbering coffee table style format that isn t warranted at all i mean, there s some nice pictures in the book, but it s not a picture book i had to read it at a table, which made the experience sort of inhibiting in terms of connecting with the book.content wise, it s a nice biography, but there s so much about Vinnie Ream s life that isn t known that the huge gaping holes in her life are rather glaring also, the controversie Labor of a Read islike it this book is enormous it has a lumbering coffee table style format that isn t warranted at all i mean, there s some nice pictures in the book, but it s not a picture book i had to read it at a table, which made the experience sort of inhibiting in terms of connecting with the book.content wise, it s a nice biography, but there s so much about Vinnie Ream s life that isn t known that the huge gaping holes in her life are rather glaring also, the controversies surrounding her sculpture don t seem to me well presented maybe it s just because it s impossible to judge whether Vinnie was discriminated against because she was a woman or whether she was a virago flake snob who rubbed people the wrong way i didn t get a very good impression of her at all and outside of her Lincoln statue, most of her other work seemed sorta lackluster to me.i m sure it was very hard being a woman artist in the 19th century and she was clearly very talented, but drama over contracts and other business ilk does not an exciting read make
